sik113scotpowerslough2When Scottish Power needed a tough, abrasion resistant floor installed and serviceable in a short space of time at their new warehouses, the Sikafloor MetalTop, system was specified.

Nick Grounds, Sika Ltd flooring national account manager explained, “The Sikafloor MetalTop system produces a surface 20 times more abrasion resistant than power floated concrete, far exceeding the ‘severe/special abrasion resistance’ criteria of BS8204. It also provides anti-static properties, is dust-free and resistant to oils, chemicals and solvents. The finished surface also received our unique traction control treatment which produces enhanced slip resistance that increases with age”.

As the Sikafloor MetalTop is installed immediately after the concrete slab is poured, the finished floor is completed in one operation – reducing installation time and cost.

Sikafloor MetalTop is a ‘dry shake’ system that consists of a blend of fine particles of metal alloys, cement, pigment and aggregates that fuses onto the wet concrete. The finished surface is probably the most durable and cost-effective flooring system for large-scale industrial premises.

Following the installation of this 700 sq. metre mid-grey floor at the new Slough warehouse, the same Sikafloor MetalTop system has been installed at a further Scottish Power warehouse in Kidlington Oxfordshire.
