photos-of-work-070_5.jpgOperators of Radix and Itronix ruggedized handsets requiring support in the UK have meant growing business for Eastern Data Group’s repair service. Salvedg has provided a maintenance, repair and replacement service from a dedicated facility in Milton Keynes since manufacturer support ceased in the UK.  The company has recently increased technical staff to meet demand.

Salvedg is manned by experienced technicians with substantial stocks of components. Spares are also being retained from units which have reached the end of their life.  Individual units can be returned for repair. However many operators are choosing a contract maintenance and repair service to cover their full network of devices.

As well as Radix and Itronix ruggedised handheld terminals, the repair centre handles O’Neil and Printek printers.

EDG Managing Director Andy French explained that the initial intention of taking on the repair centre was to ensure the future for their own customers when manufacturer support was withdrawn. However, the base of customers needing the service continues to widen.

“We expected the need to decline, but many users who might have considered replacing systems are now planning to retain them for a further few years.  We can help to extend the useful life of handheld systems.”
