manrider_approved.jpgEurope’s leading telescopic conveyor manufacturer, Caljan Rite-Hite, has again marked its commitment to safe and ergonomic working conditions in the loading/unloading zone. The Caljan Rite Hite Manrider has been officailly endorsed as compliant by Notified body No. 0396 on their line of telescopic boom conveyors.

Extending up to 15.5 metres inside the container or truck, a Caljan BeltTrack boom conveyor enables the operator to unload or load the goods ergonomically and safely. Standing safely on the ManRider platform, the operator uses the joystick at the head of the boom to extend or retract the conveyor, adjusting elevation so that he is positioned precisely where he needs to be. Alternatively foot pedals can be used.

Following extensive testing, the authorities found that the ManRider Operator platform fully complies with the requirements specified in the Machine Directive 98/37/EC and issued a certificate to this effect. Caljan Rite-Hite’s ManRider platform has integral anti-collision panels back and front and underneath the floor of the platform. These panels activate a safety stop that imobilises the conveyor, should the operator inadvertently move too close to the floor or the end of the container. Sensors can also be fitted to the ManRider platform that detect the distance to the ceiling.

To reduce the risks of working at height, Caljan Rite-Hite’s ManRider platform is equipped with a safety hand-rail plus an anti-slip floor plate to prevent the operator falling from the platform. An operator harness can also be used as an extra safety precaution, which is particularly advisable if two operators are working on the platform together.

The ManRider platform complies with EN 280 pertaining to Mobile elevating work platforms.
