tyco-waterworks.jpgWhen it came to selecting a racking and storage company to supply it with a competitively priced pallet racking system for its expanding warehouse facility in Hams Hall, Birmingham, Tyco Waterworks had no hesitation in awarding the order to the Nene Group. A leading UK supplier of innovative new and ‘second user’ storage solutions, the Nene Group was able to provide Tyco Waterworks with the quality products and flexible approach needed to meet the demands created when equipping a growing warehouse environment.

The second phase installation follows rapid growth by Tyco Waterworks, which has brought together some of the most well known and respected names in the global water industry including Talbot, Bayard, Erhard, Belgicast, Frischhut, Atlantic Plastics and Iprosa through an aggressive acquisition strategy. As a result, facilities in the Midlands have been consolidated and centralised at the company’s Hams Hall Head Office and Distribution Centre.

When installing the original racking, the Nene Group had identified the need to produce a flexible pallet racking system that could be expanded to meet Tyco Waterworks exacting demands.  With the installation of the second phase, Nene has catered for Tyco’s growing infrastructure by more than doubling the number of pallet locations.

Nene’s creative storage system comprises of a mixture of new and ‘second user’ materials which has been designed to accommodate a variety of heavy to light duty items such as gate and butterfly valves, connectors, couplings, meter boxes, chamber systems, ferrules and ductile iron pipes. This utilisation of new and ‘second user’ racking has provided Tyco with a very cost effective pallet racking system that meets current industry standards.

Nene’s design team collaborated with Tyco Waterworks in creating a solution for the warehouse that maximised the space available. With this completed and agreed by the company, work began in creating the second phase facility without disrupting the day-to-day running of the original warehouse.

“We were looking for a supplier that had the technical know-how and competitive price structure for our second phase racking extension”, said Paul Cullen, Site Manager at Tyco Waterworks. “Although we put the project out to tender, we had already worked with the Nene Group on the original installation and knew it could supply us with a creative pallet racking system that would meet our budget profile. We are delighted with the result”.

Nene’s experience in fitting out warehouses utilising a range of products including new, ‘second user’ and rental has been a major factor in the company’s success.  Its ability to undertake design, layout, supply and installation enables companies to have a single source supplier for all its requirements. The Nene Group, which has nearly fifty years of experience and expertise is also able to offer a complete warehouse unit solution comprising of racking, offices, and furniture, along with all Material Handling Equipment, available on a short or long-term agreement.
