awardphoto2.jpgCombilift Ltd, the leading global supplier in the long load handling market, has scooped the Irish Exporters Association’s Exporter of the Year Award 2008. The company had been presented with the Manufacturing Exporter Award 2008 by guest speaker An Taoiseach Brian Cowen earlier in the proceedings, and subsequently beat 11 other sector winners to carry off the top prize.

The Manufacturing Exporter Award, sponsored by Enterprise Ireland, is presented in recognition of export achievements and the securing and building of new markets, particularly in light of the prevailing difficult market conditions. Combilift was awarded the overall award due to the company’s impressive performance in developing and exporting the world’s first engine powered multi-directional forklift. Since starting with a handful of staff in 1998, Combilift now employs some 200 people at its Monaghan plant and is on course to produce over 2000 units this year. With a wide range of models currently exported to over 50 countries, a recently introduced model, the Combi-CB, is expected to add a further €10 million to an already impressive €90 million annual turnover.

Martin McVicar, Combilift MD accepted the award and commented: ”Since our inception  in 1998 we have offered a customised range to suit various individual requirements across industry sectors. This customer-led approach has been a strong component of our success, setting us apart from mainstream manufacturers. On behalf of the management and staff of Combilift who have worked hard towards the company’s success, I wish to thank the Irish Exporters Association for this Award. ”

Other sector categories included Emerging Exporter, Software Exporter, Irish Food and Drink Exporter, and Logistics Company of the Year. This is the fourth major award that Combilift has won.
