challenge-packaging.jpgThe purchase of a Mosca pallet press by corrugated manufacturer Challenge Packaging is playing an instrumental part in the company’s investment plans. Established in 1987, Challenge provides corrugated case solutions for a wide spectrum of end user markets, including food and beverage, electronics and engineering. The company is undergoing a comprehensive three-year investment in order to help develop and diversify its operation.

Challenge took the decision to work backwards along its production line from finishing to manufacture, and strapping was therefore one of the first requirements to be met. “It doesn’t matter how productive we are if the end-of-line strapping cannot meet the same capacity, so we decided to upgrade our existing manual pallet press which lacked the speed and efficiency we desired,” explains Colin Prior of Challenge Packaging.

Mosca was chosen following positive experiences in the past and excellent word-of-mouth about the company’s customer support. “We knew what we were looking for and Mosca ticked all the boxes,” Colin Prior confirms.

Challenge has selected the automatic Mosca KCR 121 pallet press with a scissor lift. The machine features two sealing heads and is capable of high speed strapping. Since installation, Challenge confirms that productivity has improved from two employees strapping 50 pallets per day to one achieving 150 pallets per day.

“The Mosca strapper is sitting quite comfortably in the factory and we have seen a huge improvement in efficiency,” concludes Colin Prior.

Mosca equipment is available in the UK from its wholly owned subsidiary Mosca Direct of Cotgrave, Nottingham.
