Fast growing high street fashion retailer New Look has commissioned a second major electronic security installation from Secom plc at its distribution centre at Lymedale, Newcastle-under-Lyme. The new installation of CCTV, an intruder alarm system and an access control system secures a purpose built base for the company’s e-business operation, which doubles the size of its distribution facility. Electronic solutions from Secom also secure the adjacent first Lymedale building and a growing portfolio of New Look sites across the UK.
The integrated security installation for the new building includes a computer controlled digital CCTV system which is monitored and recorded on site, intruder alarm equipment for perimeter and internal security, and access control equipment which is integrated with barriers and turnstiles. There is also a public address system for broadcasting live and pre-recorded messages. Like the systems installed earlier, the new alarm equipment is monitored at Secom’s Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), providing qualified backup for the on-site guards.
New Look’s Security Manager David Shepherd says: “Security is vitally important in the highly competitive fashion sector, for the physical protection of bulk inventory as well as providing a safe and secure working environment for our staff. At the same time, any solution must allow our staff and security guards on site to work efficiently, without hindrance. The Secom solutions are a perfect fit for our business. Despite various engineering challenges on the site, Secom delivered the second Lymedale system on time and on budget.”
Alan Blake, Secom’s Head of National Accounts, says: “We are extremely proud to be sharing in New Look’s success, knowing that our systems are making a significant contribution to the company’s business environment.”
