sany0092.jpgR.G Stone Ltd of Guiseley Yorkshire decided to replace their fleet of fork lifts with the new Artison trucks to handle the slabs of marble. Their remit was to have trucks with capacities of 3.0 and 7.0 tonnes that would work in their tough operating conditions on and around their cutting yard. The large trucks will carry the stone to the saws and the smaller 3 tonne trucks carry the sawn blocks away from the saws. The saws use water as a coolant and the site is always wet and often muddy.

After investigating the market they contacted F C P Mechanical Handling Ltd in Dewsbury who are the Yorkshire dealer for Artisan Fork Lift Trucks, which are imported and distributed in the UK by European Handling Equipment Ltd. of Lye, West Midlands.

R G Stone discussed their requirements with Andy Whitely and they have now taken delivery of two 3 tonne capacity Artison fork trucks model FD30 and two 7 tonne capacity Artison fork trucks model FD70 finished in their corporate colours.

The trucks are Diesel powered with new large power to weight ratio green Perkins 1106D engines in the 7 tonne model, and Yanmar 4TNE98 engine in the 3 tonne version. Both engines meet the latest European emission and noise requirements. Cyclonic air filters are fitted which were recommended as the trucks are working in wet and dusty conditions.

The automatic transmission on the 3 ton models is solenoid operated, and the 7 ton models are fitted with Okumara transmission and large twin pneumatic tyred drive wheels on each side of the heavy duty drive axle. These wheels enable the trucks to get sufficient traction in the wet and muddy conditions around the yard.

Artison offer trucks from 1800 kg capacity right up to 10 tonnes. The trucks are basic designs that are built to cope with arduous conditions and to operate in rental fleets.
