presentation-aurelia.jpgAurelia Training is proud to award employees at DHL/Exel Tesco in Daventry with an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Distribution, Warehousing & Storage and Customer Service after completing it in just 5 months. The candidates from the site enrolled on the award in February and with the help of qualified assessors Craig Burns, Les Mitchell and Sharon Watkins, completed it within record time due to the one-to-one support provided and the candidates hard work and effort.

Aurelia has provided flexibility throughout the programme by delivering it on site and working around shift patterns as Aurelia’s aim is to ‘Take the hassle out of NVQ’s’ and make the award enjoyable to achieve. Joe Connolly, Site Operations Manager at Exel commented that “Aurelia have provided excellent NVQ training to our warehouse staff and drivers on site. They have been thorough, committed and consistent and have become part of the team whilst remaining flexible to our work demands”.

The awards presentation took place on site and was attended by managers and directors alike to celebrate the achievement of the candidates, most of whom did not have any previous qualifications to their name.

The managers at DHL/Exel welcomed the expertise of trainers and assessors at Aurelia as they wanted to find a way to show recognition to their employees and value them by investing in their skill development. In recognition of this, Aurelia also presented the Management Team with Employer of the Year award for Training and Development, accepted by Chris Page, General Manager of the DHL/Exel site. He commented that “As part of DHL’s First Choice Initiative we are committed to investing in the training and development of our people. Working with Aurelia is helping us to achieve this goal as well as ensuring we have motivated employee’s who strive for success”.

Not only did the NVQ give the employees a better understanding of their job but heightened awareness of key health and safety practices. As a direct result Exel have found that their Lost Time Injury Rate over the year has decreased from 1.52 to 0.35. Other Key Performance Indicators that have improved since training commenced include a 7% increase in productivity and also a 2% decrease in absenteeism.

Aurelia look forward to continuing their work with DHL/Exel as they currently have another 26 employees on the Distribution, Warehousing & Storage Programme and are also providing training in Team Leading, Customer Service and Skills for Life at this site.
