epal.jpgIt has just been announced by EPAL – the prestigious and influential European pallet standards agency – that TWP Packaging is to be the first pallet manufacturer in the UK to be licensed as an EPAL Repairer. TWP has held the EPAL license for new pallet manufacture for a number of years so this key addition to the company portfolio is a critical benefit to its customers – existing and new. The market is keenly aware that EPAL demands very high standards of both original manufacture pallets and the repaired pallet and places a high value on this quality mark.

TWP has undergone a critical examination of its manufacturing processes and technology over the last few months to satisfy EPAL that they have the sustained manufacturing capability to continually meet their very exacting standards for repaired pallets. Peter McKenzie MD of TWP Packaging said.

“We are totally delighted to have achieved this accreditation and confidence from EPAL but the important issue for our customers is the fact that we now bring another huge benefit to the table.

To be the first is very significant as it is a market statement that TWP Packaging is about all aspects of quality of its product lines, particularly repaired pallets. This is not just an internal view of quality but an independent assessment from the leading European pallet agency that pallets produced are inspected under strict quality procedures, at regular intervals”.

All EPAL-controlled wooden pallets are marked with a quality control staple bearing the EPAL quality mark. Repaired EURO-pallets are certified with an EPAL repair marking nail. Based on standardised quality-assured EURO pallets, the”EPAL-System”is a cross-sector open pallet exchange pool.

It is recognised in the industry that the benefits of EPAL can be summed up in 3 critical statements. Safer Transport – goods arrive safely.
Stable Storage – stable storage of customer goods is guaranteed.

Optimum Operational Safety – people work in a safer environment
Commenting further Peter McKenzie said: “To be the first is a tribute to TWP’s strategy that has seen year on year investment in plant and equipment over the last 10 years.  When this is coupled with intensive training of all staff from Director to Operative and the introduction of state of the art manufacturing technology then the mix becomes one that is very potent.”
