wrapsmartultra.jpgAs the logistics and distribution industry gears up for Logistics Link North 08, bpi.films has revealed its plans for this third exhibition in the Logistics Link series. At the event, which takes place on the 14th and 15th October at Doncaster Racecourse, the leading manufacturer of polythene films will showcase a number of its products on Stand 515 – including at least two that can help companies reduce their costs and environmental impact.

The first of these cash and environment saving products will be Wrapsmartultra – a new pallet stretch wrap that offers all the performance of a 14 micron (mµ) film but from a profile that’s only 7 mµ thick. As a result, half the film by volume is required to wrap a given load and in turn, less packaging waste, by weight, is created. Plus, this reduced waste can even be recycled rather than sent to landfill as Wrapsmartultra – like many bpi.films’ products – is 100% recyclable.

The product’s thinner profile also means customers get up to twice the film per reel than with a conventional 14 mµ film. This helps to reduce the number of deliveries required and associated vehicle emissions. It also means major improvements in value for money and efficiency. As well as being able to wrap more pallets with every reel, users can expect to spend less time involved in tasks like ordering the film in the first place and then dealing with it at goods inward.

Not content to stop there, the other next generation product bpi.films intends to place under the spotlight is Zeroll. As its name suggest, this hand roll stretch film contains no cardboard core at its centre and is instead, applied using special re-usable applicators. This removal of the cardboard core offers major savings in waste and associated disposal costs. In fact, a business using a pallet of hand films per week can expect to remove up to 2 tonnes of cardboard a year from its waste stream simply by switching to this new product.

Aside from products, bpi.films will also showcase a service initiative designed to help customers save money and protect the environment. Recognising that many people may not be reaping the full advantages of advances in film technology and application techniques, the company has begun offering free Wrap Audits. These entail the manufacturer assessing an organisation’s product choice and pallet wrapping methods before providing best practice advice that can frequently cut the user’s costs, material usage and waste stream contribution.

Commenting on the forthcoming event and the company’s planned appearance, Kate Davies, Press Officer at bpi.films, said: “bpi.films is a business that never stands still and as such we have much to tell people about at Logistics Link North 08.

“Our commitment to on-going research and development and to responding positively to customer feedback has seen us develop new products, introduce new support initiatives and launch new services recently. Even existing customers will find a visit to our stand worthwhile, whilst the benefits to new users will be even more profound.”
