dscn2728.jpgA unique new vehicle lift from market-leader Stertil Koni sets new environmental standards. The planet-friendly Envirolift is battery-powered, uses biodegradable oil and a state-of-the-art communication system developed from military technology. Widely acclaimed at its launch at this year’s CV Show, the Envirolift incorporates a column manufactured from 98% recycled material and the new lift runs on deep-cycle, 100% recyclable batteries, recharged via a single-phase power supply. Significantly, the batteries are automatically recharged as the lift lowers thereby reducing overall energy consumption to a minimum.

The new lift features Panolin hydraulic oil, a specialist biodegradable oil already used in a diverse range of applications, including the hydraulic system that powers the London Eye. The oil runs in a closed hydraulic system providing over 95% efficiency.

The Envirolift works via a state-of-the-art ZigBee® system, a highly sophisticated secured communication system developed from American military technology. ZigBee® is a low-power, wireless communications technology that reduces data size and allows for lower-cost network construction. In practical use with the Envirolift, it will enable the lift’s columns to ‘talk’ to one another via a system much more secure than the standard Bluetooth technology.

A priority for Stertil Koni was to ensure the new lift’s electronics system complies fully with the Government’s 2006 RoHS Directive, which restricts the use of hazardous materials in the construction of electrical and electronic equipment. Manufacturers must ensure levels of substances such as lead, cadmium, mercury and the flame retardants PBB and PBDE are within agreed limits.

“We are thrilled to once again be showing the way forward with the launch of the Envirolift,” says Tony Edge, Joint Chairman of the Stertil BV Green Lift Committee. “Stertil Koni has always set the standards for vehicle lifts and this latest development not only proves our environmental credentials, but also shows you don’t have to compromise on performance or reliability to go green.”

The world’s leading supplier of mobile vehicle lifts, Stertil Koni is the only UK lift supplier to have been awarded Safe Contractor, Environmental Accreditation and ISO 9002. Specialising in the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of hydraulic vehicle lifts, the company uses its own factory-trained engineers and keeps parts in stock for every model for at least 25 years after production.
