durisol.jpgTwo Kaup sideshifting block clamps are providing Durisol’s new manufacturing plant in Crumlin, South Wales with the necessary performance and adjustable pressure needed to handle the company’s unique recycled building blocks. Supplied through exclusive UK distributor B&B Attachments, the attachments are now an integral part of Durisol UK’s manufacturing process. Durisol UK manufactures reinforced wall formwork systems made from Durisol, a cement bonded wood fibre material, which uses recycled wood from post-industrial sources. Producing a Durisol wall form unit requires a number of processes including wood shredding, mineralising, mixing and blocklaying. Wall form units are offered as interlocking modular blocks, which are dry stacked without mortar and filled with concrete and reinforcing steel to create a strong and durable construction.

Already used successfully by Durisol’s associate company in Austria for the past 15 years, Kaup’s Block Clamps were a natural choice when it came to fitting out the new manufacturing plant in South Wales. Fitted to two Caterpillar 3000kg trucks purchased for the application, the block clamps are used to gently lift the wall form units and take them to the storage area after they have been left on the floor to solidify for 24 hours and then three days later to move them to the trimmer to be cut and wrapped ready for distribution.

“Our Austrian factory has successfully used Kaup block clamps for 15 years and recommended them to us”, said Derek Atkins, Operations Director at Durisol UK. “We are delighted with both the performance of the block clamps and the service provided by B&B Attachments.”
The two 2T414-1A sideshifting block clamps are equipped with articulating arms, which are bonded with four rubber panels. The clamp is fitted with cylinder protection to ensure longevity and to withstand the rigors and tough environments of the brick and block industry.
All Kaup’s block clamps ensure optimum performance and maximum productivity. Like all other Kaup products they are supported by B&B Attachments’ UK network of qualified service engineers and a large spare parts stockholding.
