Already familiar with the exacting requirements and flexible approach needed to equip a kitchen and joinery warehouse environment, the Nene Group was the obvious choice to be its supplier when Travis Perkins set up its first kitchen joinery outlet in Croydon in 2006. Now two years later the template originally created by Nene’s design team has been utilised by the company to fit out 26 other kitchen joinery warehouses throughout the South East of England.
As Travis Perkins did not want its kitchen joinery warehouse to look ‘new’ but wished to create the impression of an established environment, Nene suggested using refurbished Adjustable Pallet Racking (APR). Nene’s refurbished APR conforms to SEMA specifications and all current Health & Safety regulations. Not only has it enabled the company to create the ambiance required, it has also provided it with cost savings of around 20%.
To house a diverse range of commodities such as breakfast bars, carcasses, fascias, sinks and taps, Nene has utilised a variety of APR to produce pallet locations for storing a wide range of heavy-duty products. To create the optimum warehouse environment, Nene has also supplied mesh panels, timber decks and other ancillary items.
Nene’s design team used CAD drawings to create the most advantageous layout for the store, generating profile requirements for each product group. Using the master profile created for the Croydon warehouse, Nene has been able to provide the company with the ultimate layout and product specification for each of its new branches.
“Nene responds to our requests very promptly which enables us to be up and trading within very tight timeframes”, said Andy Norman, Branch Opening Manager. “Designs and product are produced within a 4 to 5 week deadline and then Nene spends a week on site installing. The company is extremely accommodating and adaptable and supplies us with bespoke systems to suit every application”.
Nene’s experience of fitting out warehouses as retail environments has been a major factor in the success of its association with Travis Perkins. The company’s ability to undertake design, layout, supply and installation has enabled the company to have a single source supplier for all its requirements. The Nene Group, which has nearly fifty years of experience and expertise is also able to offer a complete warehouse unit solution comprising of racking, offices, and furniture, along with all Material Handling Equipment, available on a short or long-term agreement.
