Football ace Steve Bull MBE the former England International and Wolverhampton Wanderers player with a reputation for amazing goal scoring exploits enjoyed a kick around in a newly built distribution unit with a floor area the equivalent of over seven football pitches. On the occasion of the official hand over from constructor Anglo Holt to client IM Properties, Steve Bull joined Anglo Holt’s joint managing director Andy Elwell in presenting a signed football to Mick Jones, commercial director of developer IM Properties.
The huge 256,000 sq ft (23,782 m2) high specification logistics centre located at IM Properties’ 400 acre (161 ha) Birch Coppice Business Park along side the M42 motorway at Tamworth near Birmingham, represented a £7 million contact for Anglo Holt Construction. The hand – over marks Anglo Holt’s fifth completed building contract at Birch Coppice Business Park with total values adding up to £25 million with an ongoing presence in the form of a £1 million extension contract to the Ceva distribution hub for automotive giant VW Logistics.
Speaking at a VIP reception attended by over 30 chartered surveyors, IM Properties’ Mick Jones said, “The commercial property industry has unintentionally created a misnomer with the generic term “Shed” to describe industrial warehouse buildings. Current specification, environmental and quality standards for new generation logistics facilities are a million miles away from those of yesterday’s buildings. Reference to sheds is best left to the genuine garden variety.”

In another distribution sector repeat business contract Anglo Holt is in Bristol commencing a 64,585 sq ft (6,000m2) purpose built warehouse with 59,203 sq ft (5,500 m2) service yard for logistics and air and sea freight specialist Davies Turner.
The £6.6 million contract for an extension to Davies Turner’s existing Avonmouth distribution centre will be completed within 52 weeks.
