barry-bolton.jpgWhat’s the most exciting thing about your job?
I am very committed to environmental issues and raising awareness of the threat posed by cliamte change so the most exciting thing about my job for me, working in the waste management and recycling industry, is that I have the opportunity to help people make a positive difference.

What time do you get to work, and how long do you work each day?
I am usually in the office at around 8.30am every morning and most days I work at least 12 hours.

If you were an item in a warehouse, what would you be?
I would definitely be a baler! That way I could help people to recycle materials such as cardboard and plastic as well as helping to create a cleaner and tidier working environment.

If you had to do it all over again, what would you do different?
I don’t think I would do anything different apart from maybe doing more to raise awareness of environmenal issues earlier!

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you at work?
I’m really good with faces but sometimes I forget names which can be a little embarassing if you call someone by the wrong name.

What would be your advice to someone thinking about coming into the industry (apart from “don’t do it”)?
I would say there are great opportunities in the waste industry – after all don’t they say ‘Where there’s muck there’s brass!’ But seriously, as I’ve already said we’re doing a very important job for the environment.

Who or what makes you laugh?
Tommy Cooper and my children.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Aside from extremely poor Tommy Cooper impressions maybe you should ask someone who knows me that question.

Who would be your favourite party guest?
That’s a hard one it would either be someone like Sir Nicholas Stern or, because I love football, a true football legend like George Best or Pele.

What is the greatest luxury in your life?
Definitely my home and my family.

What was your favourite hospitality jolly?
I’m really lucky to have been invited to lots of great events but being invited to watch Spurs at Whitehart Lane is always top of my list.

What’s your dream holiday destination?
I was lucky enough to visit the Grand Canyon earlier this year and that was truly amazing but I would also love to visit some of the planet’s remaining natural wonders, before it’s too late, such as the Amazon Rain Forest and the melting Glaciers.

What are your three favourite movies of all time?
The Shawshank Redemption, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Monty Python’s Life of Brian.

What’s your favourite pastime?
Playing with my children and sport in general.

If you won the Lottery, what would you do?
Aside from ensuring the financial security of my children and family I would definitely invest in and encourage the development of more environmental technology.
