hub-aerial-dpd.jpgPWP Building Services has completed a Design and Build contract to install Mechanical, Electrical and Data Management Services in a new 13,200m2 (150,000ft2) plan hub distribution facility for DPD (formerly known as Parceline) in Oldbury, West Midlands. The 320m (1,213ft) long building includes extensive mezzanines, offices, staff amenities and 6,500m2 (70,000ft2) of underground parking.  The site also includes a separate office, security and canteen building, a vehicle maintenance facility and extensive external services.

Working closely with long-term partner DPD (which stands for Dynamic Parcel Distribution), PWP designed and installed heating, lighting and power services for the centre’s full range of equipment and facilities including handling and sortation systems. They included the integration of a site 3.5MVA electrical supply, two 1.5MVA standby generators and the installation of specialist car park ventilation.

The initial proposals were developed and agreed in close consultation with DPD at the pre-tender stage, enabling PWP to deliver the complex range of services vital to the client’s continuing operations on time, working smoothly and efficiently with other construction and fit-out elements.

DPD targets larger B2B customers and is a leading provider to the telecommunications, entertainment and retail sectors.  It is known for its innovative culture and dynamic use of technology. A leading brand of GeoPost UK, DPD is wholly owned by Groupe La Poste, the second largest postal group in Europe.

An experienced and fast growing Mechanical and Electrical Services contractor, PWP has extensive experience and expertise in the warehousing and distribution sector having recently completed projects for clients such as Superdrug, Maplin Electronics and New Look.
The architects were The Henry Mein Partnership and structural engineers Cameron Darroch.
