Stepping up ambitious growth plans for its flourishing packaging division, Antalis is delighted to announce Lesley Mercer as the supplier’s new commercial manager.
With a career spanning more than 25 years, Lesley brings with her an impressive track record of supply chain management and product purchasing. Applying her notable experience working for market leaders including MacFarlane and Woodway, Lesley will provide focus and expertise to ensure the packaging offering to customers remains as competitive and cutting-edge as possible. Her role will include the purchasing and deployment of bespoke packaging products and services – a significant growth area for the business.
Most recently, Lesley worked as a commercial manager for MacFarlane Packaging over a four year period on their national and third-party logistical accounts, working with large retail customers from the tender stage through to implementation. She also had a lengthy stint at leading supplier of packaging solutions, Woodway, where she spent more than a decade as the company’s purchasing manager.
Drawing on her extraordinary history in delivering growth and profitability within the industry, Lesley hopes to support the ongoing expansion of Antalis’ packaging unit, which earlier this year opened a dedicated new design lab at the company’s headquarters in Coalville, Leicestershire.
The new Smart Packaging Centre enables customers to visit and explore first-hand innovative ways to pack products, test out the latest machinery and sit down with Antalis designers to create live samples in just a few hours. Lesley will report into the director of packaging at Antalis, David Hope.
Commenting on the new appointment, David said: “In recent years, the packaging industry has seen a significant shift towards bespoke design and personalisation, both in terms of the aesthetics and functionality, and with the rising demand for environmentally-friendly packaging, we are seeing a boom in the e-commerce and corrugated markets.
“With this in mind, we’ve appointed a new commercial manager to provide a more strategic approach to personalised packaging solutions and to continue to pitch Antalis as the best in the industry. With Lesley’s extraordinary track record, she’ll be a real asset to the team and we look forward to seeing how she will make her mark on our thriving packaging division.”
