The 2019 everywoman in Transport & Logistics Awards programme is now open for entries with organisers inviting nominations from across the industry, from aviation and shipping to road and rail. The awards are free to enter until 11 February.

Last year’s “Woman of the Year”: Anna Delvecchio, Commercial Account Director at Amey Plc, who started her career journey on a government apprenticeship at just 15 years old. Having broken through the glass ceiling by the age of 30 by becoming Supply Chain Director for Invensys, she is now the Rail Supply Group Director for Amey, seconded to the Rail Delivery Group to co-lead on the government industrial strategy sector deal.

Over the 11 years the programme has been running, everywoman has showcased the breadth of opportunities within the industry along with the career journeys of those who have made an impact through their occupations. During this time significant progress has been made to create a more diverse workforce with more women than ever taking on senior management roles and a steady rise in female logistics graduates to 37%. Yet with women making up less than 20% of the transport and logistics workforce there continues to be a focus on career opportunity and awareness.

The industry is facing its biggest challenges in years. Not only is the number of transport and logistics jobs expected to grow by 22% by 2022, the UK is facing a skills shortage in the wake of Brexit. As the sector keeps pace with new technology, so many roles increasingly require a multi-skilled workforce covering project management, sales, customer services and planning in addition to the more traditional driving and warehouse positions. Through these awards, everywoman is creating vital role models to inspire women to explore the many and varied career opportunities in the sector.

The awards will recognise two winners per category; one successful industry “Leader” and one individual at any stage in their career who is going “Above and Beyond” for the business they work for. The Industry Champion Award will recognise a woman who is championing the progress of women in the industry whilst the Male Agent of Change Award will recognise a man with an active commitment to advancing the progress of women. For the first time in 2019, a rising star will be awarded the brand new Apprentice of the Year Award. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London in June 2019.
