The Thermo King SLXi Hybrid, a hybrid refrigeration system for semitrailer applications has been recognized for its innovative design and technologies. These designs and technologies are environmentally responsible and support Ingersoll Rand’s commitment to addressing the unsustainable demand for energy resources.

“We are pleased to be recognized for our climate-friendly solutions for transport refrigeration customers,” said Pauli Johannesen, vice president and general manager for Truck, Trailer and Bus at Thermo King in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). ”The SLXi Hybrid offers customers easier access to restricted, low-emission urban areas that require quiet operation, while lowering their environmental footprint and operating costs at the same time.”

The SLXi Hybrid refrigeration system includes a Thermo King SLXi refrigeration unit and the Frigoblock EnviroDrive package. This package includes an alternator installed on the tractor engine and an inverterdrive system to provide constant electric power and operate the unit with its diesel engine turned off.

The SLXi Hybrid uses next generation, low global warming potential (GWP) R-452A refrigerant, which significantly reduces its impact on the environment. It is also quieter allowing customers to easily access noise-regulated urban areas.

The SLXi Hybrid will be commercially available this year as part of the SLXi refrigerated trailer platform. It is also part of Ingersoll Rand’s EcoWise™ portfolio of products designed to lower environmental impact with next generation, low global warming potential refrigerants and high efficiency operation.
