frontWelcome to the March 15th edition of Warehouse & Logistics News.

READ THE March 15th ISSUE

In these pages we have our Preview of the IntraLogisteX Show, which opens its doors on Wednesday 16th March at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry.

Once again Warehouse & Logistics News is proud to be an official media partner to the show, the first of this year’s major industry events.

We wish all exhibitors a successful IntraLogisteX. If you’re there, come and meet us on stand 83.

Also in this issue we have scheduled features on Doors & Curtains and Conveying & Sortation. ‘Doors & Curtains’ includes an exclusive interview with Alan Jenkins, Sales Director of Hörmann, the industrial door and loading bay manufacturer who continue to launch new products and land major orders like TNT’s new distribution hub in Swindon, as reported in our last issue.

Winning over the specifiers is key to this ongoing success.

As Alan explains, Hörmann is making it easier for industry professionals to design projects using its products by turning its doors into digital ‘BIM objects’ and offering an Architects’ Program on its website with drawings of Hörmann products for use in tender documents.

Staying ahead in business involves keeping up with developments in all areas. On our front page KASTO’s new automatic bandsaw for processing tubular material quite literally turns things upside down by cutting from the bottom upwards, unlike conventional bandsaws, which do the opposite. This novel design enables the KASTOwin tube A 5.0, the latest addition to the KASTOwin bandsaw range, to use tungsten carbide blades instead of traditional bimetal ones, so avoiding premature wear and increasing productivity. You can meet Ernst Wagner and the KASTO team at MACH 2016, at the Birmingham NEC from 11-15 April.

Finally, in a few weeks’ time I’m off to China as a guest of BYD, a rapidly developing materials handling business with its sights on the UK and European markets. As we announced in the February 1st edition of W&LN, BYD’s threewheeled ECB18C electric forklift has reached the Finals of the IFOY Awards 2016, showing the extraordinary technological progress China’s forklift manufacturers have made recently. It remains to be seen whether BYD make history by winning an IFOY Award. Time will tell.

Bye for now, or ‘Zhan shi zai jian,’ as they say in Mandarin! See you at IntraLogisteX.
