Welcome to the Warehouse & Logistics News Annual 2015/16, our showcase of the leading companies and organisations driving the industry forward.

Read The Annual 2015/16

In the fifth edition of The Annual we look in depth at the companies making the news. We interview and profile 29 of the most influential individuals in the industry, backed up with yearly reports from the main trade associations. Innovation and excellence continue to drive warehousing and logistics and we highlight the manufacturers and service providers leading the various sectors.

As we’ve reported over the last year, the warehouse and logistics industry is committed to developing and refining the equipment and solutions available to make operations more competitive. It’s also actively involved in finding and training the next generation of professionals to run the industry.

This commitment to investing in the future is paying off. In its annual report on page 32, the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport reports member recruitment up on a year ago. CILT is also collaborating with other trade bodies to further improve the business’s image and bring in younger recruits.

Against the backdrop of the slowdown in China, instability in various parts of the world, and the economic difficulties of other parts of Europe, Britain is among a handful of stars that are still shining in the global economy. Our warehouse and logistics industry leads the way in terms of activity, with omnichannel retailing and online shopping continuing to be a driving force.

As we have become a distribution-based economy, this has driven the growth of warehousing and logistics. The reality is, we can expect more growth to come. Demand for new warehouse premises in Britain is outstripping supply, according to Savills’ recent profile of the warehouse property sector.

Meanwhile warehouses, DCs and fulfillment centres are playing a vital role in supporting communities across the UK by stimulating the local economy, providing much needed employment and offering an entry point for rewarding careers.

Going forwards Warehouse & Logistics News will continue to lead as publishers of the industry’s only fortnightly title, bringing you the latest news, important stories and detailed reports on the key topics. Here’s to another successful year and more good news all round.
