The government has committed itself to doubling UK exports to £1 trillion by 2020! UK has remained the top 10 exporter overall, with Germany and the U.S being the principle destinations.
Declining sales and market share encourages businesses to market abroad. However the finance accessible will likely only be available to the largest organisations. The smaller organisations, have enough cash flow restraints and resource shortages without the need to worry about exporting costs and regulations.
Wooden pallets are commonly used in international trade. Due to risks of spreading pests, strict controls have been introduced. Every country tends to have its own import requirements which must be complied, most common standard is the International Standards of Phytosanitary Measure 15 (ISPM15). For a wooden pallet to be ISPM15 exempt it needs to be heat treated. This comes at a cost. Not only that but the prices for wooden pallets increased by 60% over the last five years.
