The continuing buoyancy of the manufacturing and stockholding sectors in the UK, together with the successful development of the German-built KASTO range of sawing and automated warehousing products, has encouraged the firm’s Milton Keynes subsidiary to employ three new members of staff.
To strengthen after-sales support, two service engineers have been recruited. Nottingham-based Stephen Frost started mid December 2014 and Mick Thorpe, operating from Rotherham, will join in April 2015. In addition, a new sales engineer, Nikki-lee Ormerod, will also start in April. Based in Barnoldswick, he will be another useful point of contact for KASTO customers in the north of England.
Driving the extra recruitment are substantial orders in the past year for KASTO automated storage and retrieval systems. It is an area where Britain is lagging behind many other First World countries, so there is much scope to develop the market.
Another factor is the success of the KASTOwin range of automatic production bandsaws, introduced last year. They are suitable for processing a variety of materials, especially steels, in both stockholding and manufacturing.
Commonality of parts across the range and 25 per cent fewer of them in each machine allows the high quality saws to be offered at very competitive prices. They are also energy efficient, thanks in part to the electrically driven ballscrews and the small hydraulic unit. So far, conversion rate from machine demonstration to order is nearly 100 per cent.
