FrontHappy New Year, and welcome to the January 15th issue of Warehouse  & Logistics News, our first of 2015.

READ THE January 15th ISSUE

As the wheels of industry speed up again after the Christmas break, here’s to Britain’s warehouse and logistics operations, which have kept going through the dog days of late December and early January. 2015 looks like being a year when business people will need to find their inner superhero, and stay confident in the face of political uncertainty ahead of May’s election and the weakening Eurozone. Stay strong!

One thing we can be sure of over the next 12 months is the warehousing and logistics industry continuing to provide the muscle to help UK business rise to the challenges ahead. Our features in this issue will help you keep your operations in good shape. Doors & Curtains looks at industrial doors, curtains and roller-shutters. And Warehouse Lighting covers smart lighting solutions for today’s warehouses, including LED, energy-efficient, long-life and sensor-activated systems. It also incorporates a review of last November’s LuxLive Show.

The warehousing and logistics sector benefits from having effective industry associations, which do an invaluable job supporting service providers and manufacturers. As reported on our front cover SEMA, the Storage Equipment Manufacturers’ Association, has launched a ‘Three Steps To Safety’ campaign, based on the idea that safe, efficient storage takes in design, installation and maintenance. Matt Grierson, MD of Constructor Group and new President of SEMA, is urging everyone from trainee installers to MDs of distribution companies to get involved in making warehouses zero-accident places to work, starting with safer storage systems. Incidentally Matt also quotes the Construction Products Association predicting last year that the market for industrial warehouses would grow 10% in 2015. Here’s to that being realised!

Finally, as a new year starts, we are pleased to announce that Warehouse & Logistics News is a media partner to IntraLogisteX2015, the new event in logistics and supply chain solutions, which runs from 25-26 March at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry. We will be publishing a preview supplement for IntraLogisteX in the 15th March issue. Warehouse & Logistics News has also been appointed media partner to Home Delivery World Europe 2015, Europe’s leading conference and exhibition for retailers and home delivery partners. Home Delivery World takes place from 28-29 April at the Business Design Centre, London. We will feature a preview supplement on the event in our 1st April issue.

Have a successful 2015.
