Kite Packaging, the UK’s premier supplier of packaging, will be helping retailers with the final quarter surge by providing them with the most popular packaging materials for the Christmas period at the most competitive prices.

kite-logo-x2Although summer has only just finished, already retailers are planning for Christmas – the busiest time of year for many and a time when preparation is key. According to the Centre for Retail Research UK spending in December typically goes up by an average of 60%, of course in order to meet this increase in demand retailers need to bring in extra resource and stock.

For the food industry Christmas also becomes a busy time, particularly in the luxury sector where households are more likely to treat themselves to more high value produce and seasonal items. In 2013, per household 28.4% of spending was attributed to food and drink, a 2.5% increase on 2012 and figures set to rise even more in 2014.

Of course, one of the biggest influencers on the spending trend is the internet and e-commerce businesses reported great results last year with one in five goods in the UK bought online resulting in a 20% share of the retail market. Busy lifestyle has also meant the online grocery industry has seen a great deal of growth, with 15% of all grocery shopping booked online during the 2013 Christmas period.

Kite Packaging’s range of postal products aim to meet the requirements of varying retailers across the mail order and e-fulfilment industry and have been designed to include aspects that are becoming increasingly important to retailers, such as environmental credentials and competitive pricing.

One of the biggest cost implications retailers prepare for at this time of year is the issue of returns, and one of the biggest reasons for returning items is damage caused by transit. Properly packaged products are essential in protecting items against this transit damage, with a core selection of products preferred for the e-fulfilment industry. Kite supplies Arofol bubble lined mailers to the industry, available in gold and most recently white these envelopes are manufactured using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) approved paper and in a climate-neutral way to reduce environmental impact. The Kraft paper outer is ideal for protecting against tearing and bursting, and the bubble lining is the most preferred method of protecting goods against breakage.

To support retailers buying large quantities of postal products Kite has also launched an additional mixed pallet ordering method for customers to use in conjunction with the mailing bags range, which includes premium envelopes from Jiffy. The new tool will allow customers to build a pallet of goods, choosing from varying sizes and the Jiffy Mailmiser, Jiffy AirKraft and Arofol bubble lined mailers range. Once a pallet is created customers’ products will be discounted according to if a single product pallet was bought.

The new tool will support the new surge of retailers looking to stock up for Christmas, and with every order Kite will be giving customers a handy free gift in a promotional Arofol mailer which discusses the products’ environmental credentials. Customers can also choose from a range of other products including bubble wrap bags (including anti-static versions for electronic components), book wrap mailers designed to wrap around DVDs and books and polythene mailing bags favoured by the textile industry by visiting www.kitepackaging.co.uk
