The new Heavy Duty Mezz Lift is a vertical goods lift with up to 1000kg capacity that enables users to move goods such as crates, trolleys or pallets safely and efficiently to mezzanine floors within warehouses, retail stores, factories and workshops.

Penny Hydraulics has seen steady growth of their goods lifts range over the past 5 years, with a large spike in orders between 2013 and 2014. Commenting on the growth Richard Short, Sales Director at Penny Hydraulics Ltd explains “business owners are looking for ways that will enable them to work smarter…they want to utilise all the storage space within their premises and move stock quickly and safely. News is starting to spread that goods lifts are a cost effective product to help them achieve these goals. The fact that the lifts are self- supported, no structural changes need to be made to the building and that the lift can be fitted within a 4 week lead time means minimum disruption to the workplace is caused; all of which are major draws to our goods lift range for business owners.”

The Heavy Duty Mezz Lift is manufactured in the UK and is fully compliant with European legislation. Standard cost effective off the shelf designs are available as well as optional extras such as bespoke platform sizes, increased height, 90 degree loading or additional entrances, trolley stop barriers on the platform, a choice of finish and clad enclosure, internal and external use.

With safety at the forefront of the design, all lifts are CE marked and built in conformance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 and The Provision & Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998. Standard safety features include electrical & mechanical interlocks on level gates, hazard warning safety signs, O&M manual, emergency stop button fitted to all control stations, anti-slip platform surface, hose burst protection and overload protection

Customers benefit from free site assessments and fast UK-wide installation. Operator training is available and planned maintenance programmes including scheduled annual Statutory Testing to give business owners peace of mind that they are complying with current UK legislation. All lifts come with 12 months parts and labour warranty as standard.

The NEW Heavy Duty Mezz Lift has been a great success. Trans-Tronic Ltd are a manufacturer of mechanical components including transformers and coils. As the company has expanded over the years, it became apparent that they were in great need of increased warehousing space for stock. Rather than move premises, the decision was made to introduce a mezzanine floor in the premises and use this extra space for storage. To move stock between the mezzanine floor and ground level, staff were either making numerous trips up and down the stairs carrying the items in small boxes or using a fork truck to lift larger pallet loads. Both options were time consuming and required a high level of man power; using the fork truck in particular meant that a trained operator needed to carry out the procedure and the working area needed to be cordoned off, taking up both valuable space and time.

Business Owner of Transtronic, Peter Goater, identified this as an area in their business in which they could save time and money, increase productivity and staff safety by eliminating unnecessary manual handling. Peter contacted Penny Hydraulics to design and manufacture a 1000kg capacity goods lift to move the components between ground level and the mezzanine floor. The goods lift team identified that a standard off-the shelf lift would suit the company’s requirement with a couple of minor adaptations; at ground level two separate loading areas were added, one from the loading bay outside and another from the storage area inside to ensure the lift could be used from two separate areas.

The lift was designed and manufactured within a 4 week lead time and quickly installed and put to use by Peter and his team to move the heavy components to and from the stock area on the mezzanine level. Within a couple of weeks of the installation, Peter got in touch to say how pleased he was with the lift commenting “we are delighted with the lift and using it a lot”. In testament to the excellent design and service provided, Peter described himself as “a delighted customer”. Since installing the lift at Trans-Tronic the Penny Hydraulics goods lift team has had great success at numerous other sites throughout the UK.
