SEMA, the Storage Equipment Manufacturers’ Association will launch two new Codes of Practice at its Annual Standards & Regulations Seminar on Wednesday 4th June.
Steve Cowen, chair of SEMA’s Technical Committee will brief delegates on the new SEMA Design Code of Practice which launched this April this year to embrace a wide scope of test methods on Adjustable Pallet Racking.
He will provide an update on the ERF – FEM Code of Practice on Cantilever Racking Design, outline SEMA installation guidelines on erection tolerances and offer new SEMA guidance on Prop and Cut Leg Repairs and related racking repair work. His presentation will also cover work in hand on new guidance on the design and use of rack protectors and preview SEMA’s relevant Code of Practice.
Keynote speaker Chris Watts of the BSI Group will address the specific conditions required for the lighting of warehouses. He will outline the changes that were made in 2013 to BS EN 1883, highlighting lighting different systems with reference to energy efficiency including emergency requirements.
The SEMA Technical Committee briefing will focus on progress made by the Product Group of FEM with reference to codes for shelving systems, and European interfaces on crane racking industry standards.
With a focus on benefits to the end user, Wayne Wiggins, independent consultant and trainer from QCS International will present the outcome of the SEMA Distributor Group’s (SDG) new mandatory member audit which is scheduled for completion in May 2014.
