Union Industries, the UK market leading manufacturer of industrial rapid roll doors, has helped E Oldroyd and Sons close the door on inefficient insulation following the installation of a Matadoor.
The Leeds-based company, which designs, manufactures, installs and maintains its own range of fast acting doors, was chosen by E Oldroyd & Sons to help improve the temperature control within its rhubarb storage facility.
Producers and packers of high quality fruit and vegetables, E Oldroyd and Sons is renowned for its forced rhubarb production. It sees tourists travel from far and wide to view the rhubarb growing in the dark being harvested by candlelight.
The company was keen to introduce a new system where the newly fitted Matadoor would work in conjunction with the already existing insulated sliding door. This was required as using the stand-alone door was inefficient and time consuming to operate.
Now, during busy periods, the sliding door can be left open as the Matadoor will effectively maintain the low temperature required as it operates at a much faster pace, opening at 1.6m per second and closing automatically after a short open dwell time. The insulated door is now only required when the facility is not in operation.
The 2.0m x 2.8m high Matadoor is ideally suited for internal openings with high volume traffic, whether for Forklift trucks, pallet trucks or personnel with trolleys & carts. Its fast opening & closing operating cycle ensures that as little of the cold as possible escapes when gaining access, meaning energy savings & cost reductions on refrigeration.
