One of the country’s leading golf companies has reinforced its partnership with Import Services with another three year contract for Southampton port’s retail logistics specialist to handle its European warehousing and distribution of clubs, bags, accessories and balls.

gI_89025_Srixon-Classic-Customer-HeroSrixon, which owns Dunlop Tyres, is the fourth largest golf company in the world and has been making golf balls for more than 80 years.

The company has renewed its contract with retail logistics specialist Import Services to provide warehousing operations, order processing and distribution to golf clubs and retailers throughout the UK and 31 European countries.

Paul Hunt, operations manager from Srixon Sports Europe said that Import Services continues to offer far more than logistics to the golf company.

“We have a successful partnership with Import Services which provides us with a range of benefits,’’ said Paul. “The port centric operation works perfectly for us, the bonded status of the warehouse makes a massive difference to our cash flow and Import Services is always innovative which is an important factor in choosing the right logistics partner.’’

He said that innovations have included the installation of dedicated conveyor systems to streamline goods arriving at the warehouse and purpose designed racking for Srixon goods.

Import Services moves thousands of containers and millions of items through the Southampton container port and this number increases annually. “We work closely with Srixon to improve processes and deliver the efficient operation it needs to expand across Europe ’’ said Mike Thomas, client services director with Import Services.

“We initially won the contract from Srixon by shaving five days off the company’s supply chain and by offering cash flow benefits by holding stock under bond, deferring VAT and Duty until after the product is sold,’’ said Mike.

“These are significant business benefits, which combined with the economies of scale we provide across our range of clients and facilities, have underpinned our partnership with Srixon, which we are delighted is extended.

“Forward thinking clients such as Srixon recognise the edge gained by moving its products to market swiftly and meeting the demands of retailers ordering smaller quantities more frequently. The time and cost savings delivered by Import Services’ port centric model, alleviates the constant pressure to meet retailers’ demands successfully,” added Mike.
