Briggs Equipment has invested £5.5 million in its short term hire (STH) fleet as part of its £20 million STH transition plan to become the UK’s leading national distributor of Yale Materials Handling equipment.
With its headquarters in Cannock, Staffordshire, Briggs is committed to becoming the customer’s first choice service provider, supplying the right products, service, support and advice to keep customers moving safely and productively.
The investment in STH combines a range of counterbalance trucks, order pickers, power pallet and reach trucks giving the Yale machines an average age of below 18 months. These machines have the very latest specifications from Yale to provide customers with optimum efficiency and flexibility.
Allan Parsons, Asset Manager of Briggs Equipment, explains: “We are taking huge strides in aiming to have the youngest STH fleet in the industry. We are totally committed to our Yale partnership and supply the most reliable and cost effective short-term solutions for our customers who can hire from one day up to one year.
“STH fleets are usually made up of older equipment which comes with higher maintenance and repair costs. Our investment in virtually new machines means greater reliability giving customers’ excellent uptime rates; essential for their business needs”.
All of the new trucks are equipped with a high specification, including Techtronix transmissions on the IC engine counter balanced range and most machines have oil cooled disc brakes, speed limiters and premier monitoring systems ensuring optimum safety and comfort.

With a wide variety of modifications available on our machines, we can provide flexible short-term solutions to fit a broad range of applications.”
Currently, Briggs’s STH fleet consists of 3000 machines of which 30% are now Yale machines. Over the next six months this will increase to 40% with over 1200 being the world renowned Yale product. This recent investment shows real commitment by Briggs to providing its customers with market leading products backed by a leading service.
