Jigsaw Solutions has announced the launch of a national pallet network specifically for food grade products. This network offers the UK’s ambient food manufacturers a reliable and cost-effective solution for the delivery of small consignments. Jigsaw will operate this service through seven of its existing partner depots around the UK, and will control it centrally from its National Operations Centre in Bardon, Leicestershire. According to Jigsaw M.D. Andrew Humpherson, this is a natural development from the full load solutions that Jigsaw has been providing its customers since its launch in 2002.
“We have found that retailers are putting their suppliers, who are our customers, under ever increasing pressure to provide smaller delivery quantities more frequently and often on shorter lead times” said Humpherson. This has meant that an ability to deliver this product as part of an overall integrated package has become a crucial part of Jigsaw’s business.”
“This product has been developed using our existing partner hauliers – all privately owned, long established, reliable names that already have substantial regional groupage operations in their own right. Jigsaw has in effect linked these operations together to create a truly national product, and harnessed the additional firepower of Jigsaw’s central systems and management structure. This has meant that we have in recent times been able to offer the kind of service that prestigious brands such as Mars and Premier Foods require. We are able to deliver any consignment size from a single pallet upwards anywhere in the UK on a next day or economy basis.”
