flexi_logo.jpgAs part of its stated aim to deliver greater supply chain efficiencies to its customer base, a leading third party logistics services provider has introduced Flexi articulated trucks from Narrow Aisle at its multi-user warehouse and distribution facility in Dublin. The company, with project design help from Narrow Aisle’s technical team, chose the latest version of the Flexi, the Flexi EURO – a compact four wheel articulated forklift truck which has been designed to provide the maximum storage density – to handle a variety of palletized loads, including 800mm x 1200mm Euro pallets, at the busy Dublin store.

Thanks to its compact 1060mm wide chassis and narrow front axle, the Flexi EURO is capable of working in aisles as narrow as 1642mm wide (with a Euro pallet) or 1762mm wide (with an ISO pallet) and importantly, the fact that the truck has a traditional four-wheel configuration means that stability is not compromised, while its narrow chassis and tight turning radius ensure that goods can be put away efficiently and safely.

The articulated warehouse truck has long been promoted as a viable alternative to the traditional combination of a counterbalanced truck to unload and a reach truck to put away palletised loads and Narrow Aisle’s client is a long-standing advocate of the articulated approach.
The trucks are used at the Dublin site to unload incoming vehicles and transfer pallets directly to the racking, where they are held before onward delivery to end users throughout Ireland.

“Until the articulated warehouse truck was introduced, companies had little alternative but to operate a two truck system with a counterbalanced machine working outside and feeding a reach or turret truck inside the store or warehouse,” says John Maguire, sales and marketing director of Narrow Aisle Flexi. “With the arrival of articulated machines into warehouses users realised that they could eliminate this often costly and generally inefficient arrangement. Articulated trucks load and unload lorries and deliver pallets directly to the racking in a single operation. By doing so, they increase efficiency and productivity while abolishing double handling and the costs associated with running a bigger truck fleet than is necessary,” he adds.

John Maguire concludes: “The global market for the Flexi range of trucks is growing and has great future potential. The forklift industry is an increasingly global business and we aim to provide the highest levels of quality and service to Flexi customers both at home and abroad.
“The Flexi is already Europe’s biggest selling articulated truck, yet we are also finding that the Flexi range is proving particularly popular with specifiers in smaller, growing markets such as Ireland – where high property prices are an issue. In fact, in recent months, we have secured a good deal of significant new business from Ireland – more than many larger global markets.”
