Westgate Global recently installed a Flexistructure temporary external building at Woodpecker Flooring in Caerphilly, Wales. The high-quality flooring manufacturer required an external shielded loading bay to provide additional useable space on their existing site.

The building needed to be adjoined to an existing building to reduce wind and dirt ingress and protect from the weather during loading. It would also allow temperature to be maintained within this new area to protect the quality wood flooring as it is delivered and unloaded, plus allow for storage of old flooring due to be recycled.

The 20m x 40m steel clad sided and heavy-duty reinforced PVC roof structure was joined on to an existing building with a tunnel feature. Three roller shutter doors were used along one side for loading and openings with socks were installed to seal around the existing building’s roller shutter doors. The ability to customise the structure to suit the need of the customer is a big advantage of Flexistructure.

Creating a holding area for goods in and out has enabled Woodpecker to maximise their existing space for stock to allow for continued growth. Not having goods in the aisles has also improved the efficiency of their warehouse operation and reduced health and safety risks.

To enable Woodpecker to continue with production and loading, the installation took place over two weekends. The modular nature of the temporary buildings system allows for quick installation, and by working with Westgate Global there is the benefit of delivering an integrated solution from a single point of contact and supplier, with our ability to design, supply, and install a range of products, including internal partitions, doors and protection bollards.
