Transmec’s experienced London branch manager has been promoted to lead its UK operations.

Imran Mohammed becomes the transport and logistics group’s UK general manager, taking over from John Simkins who has stepped aside after nine years in the role.
Previously serving as UK finance director for 18 years, Imran became London manager in 2019 and will continue to take charge of the branch.
His priorities are to manage continuing growth while overseeing the London depot’s forthcoming move from West Thurrock to a 155,050 sq ft warehouse at London Gateway.
Imran said: “Transmec is a dynamic, customer-focused company with a fantastic UK team. We’re in a very strong position to move forward.
“The move to London Gateway will increase our London warehousing capacity by 50 per cent and we’re looking to capitalise on all the opportunities offered at such a well-connected site.
“It’s a privilege to be taking on the role and my aim is to carry on the great work of my predecessor, John Simkins. John is continuing as manager of the Redditch branch, so we’ll still be able to draw on his considerable experience.”
John Simkins said: “Imran is the ideal person to take the company forward. He knows the business inside out and has strong relationships with Transmec’s sites across the UK, EU and North Africa.”
Transmec UK’s other depots in Bradford, Redditch and Worcester provide a range of domestic and international services, supported by its own customs department based in Birmingham.
Headquartered in Modena, Italy, Transmec Group has more than 40 branches in 16 countries worldwide and a turnover of more than 500 million euros.
