Research from Savills shows that demand in the Midlands in January 2021 for warehouse space was 223% higher than in January 2020 and, while it remains at a historic high and vacancy levels are declining, the market cannot keep pace in terms of new supply. One solution to the ever increasing demand for warehouse space is temporary buildings. These can be installed within a few weeks of being ordered and can be tailored to meet the exact demands of warehouse operators.

D B Schenker commissioned a Maxi-Space building from Smart-Space in Tamworth, West Midlands, for a client’s storage use. The D B Schenker solution is 30m wide x 78m long x 6m high. It has a thermo inflatable roof which provides an element of warmth and a lot of light. Its insulated walls make it a sturdy, secure build, complete with pedestrian doors and a roller shutter door.
Copri Systems was contacted about designing and installing a temporary fabric covered structure at the Wickes site in Northampton that could provide shelter for the Wincanton double decker trailers when loading and off-loading goods. At 27m wide x 10m long x 5m high internally, the frame was mounted to the existing warehouse building and the front was kept fully open to allow for continuous access to vehicles. LED lighting to 150 lux was also supplied to create optimum lighting for a safe working environment.
Rubb Buildings has completed its design, manufacture, and installation of a new MRO hangar on the Welsh Government’s 1,200 acres business park in the Vale of Glamorgan. Rubb’s 50m (wide) x 50m (long) x 8m (sidewall height) hangar, with an apex height of 18.5m, is capable of housing aircraft such as Boeing B737-800/Airbus A320-A321 and will be used as a compliant Part 145 MRO operational hub while additional hangars are being built at the new airfield site development. The 1,200 acres business park includes a fully operational 1,800m runway on a commercial airfield operated by Cardiff Airport.
