The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a surge in online shopping. A rise in e-commerce orders, and the subsequent returns business, has increased demand for fulfilment which means greater demand for mezzanine floor solutions. Following labour shortages due to Brexit’s impact on the availability of migrant workers, the rise in e-commerce volumes is also fuelling demand for warehouse automation. The increasing use of heavy automated equipment in warehouses is driving demand for strong mezzanine floors.

The inotec Floortag system is the most durable floor barcode on the market. It consists of a super-durable aluminium plate, which has the barcode and human readable text photocomposed into the metal. This plate is then recessed slightly below the floor surface and sealed with a tough polyester resin. Floortag is extremely resistant to damage from heavy fork lift truck traffic; has an excellent read quality with high definition printing; and is designed for fast accurate barcode scanning from truck mounted readers.

Market research by industry analyst Plimsoll has shown MiTek Mezzanine Systems Ltd to be the number one mezzanine floor supplier in the UK for the fifth consecutive year. CG Flooring Systems used CoGri Premium Finish when refurbishing the reception floor of a Leeds-based market leader in the provision of body armour to thousands of individuals and businesses across the globe. Polished concrete floors are low maintenance, environmentally friendly, and durable. The level of shine one wishes to achieve can be set through a multi-step process, grinding the concrete surface using abrasive diamonds, a fittingly glamourous product for creating a sophisticated, alluring finish to the public-facing areas in warehouses and industrial units.

Commercially, the demand for resilient PVC flooring is rising significantly. Trudec tiles, manufactured by Broanmain Plastics, with layouts designed, customised, installed and supported by TilePlans, is responding to this market demand by increasing production of its unique interlocking, REACH compliant, industrial-quality PVC floor tile system. More forgiving than traditional ceramic floor tiles and a versatile, longer lasting alternative to epoxy coatings and floor paints, the interlocking floor tile system can be designed to meet the most stringent Health & Safety requirements.

The pandemic has also sharpened many firms’ focus on business resilience, partly achieved by restructuring of their supply chains to reshore their operations, again boosting demand for new warehousing facilities in the UK and Europe.
