One of the UK’s leading transport and third-party logistics specialists, Speed Welshpool, has expanded its workforce with the appointment of a new Operations Director.

Chris Tandy joins the Powysbased business, which is a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, with 25 years of experience in the transport industry. Previous positions have seen Chris managing UK trunking at City Link and running the UK van fleet at Sainsbury’s.

As part of his role, he’ll develop close relationships with new and existing customers, manage all dayto- day operational affairs and help the business to further its growth. Commenting on his appointment, Chris said: “Speed Welshpool, and in turn Palletways, are wellrespected names in the logistics industry and I’m delighted to be on board. The company is a mature, established business with its sights firmly set on future growth. I’m keen to further develop its customer base, strengthen the Speed Welshpool brand and help take the business to new heights.”

MD at Speed Welshpool, George Edwards, added: “Appointing Chris demonstrates the importance we place on recruiting the best people in the industry. This is a brand-new position and will be instrumental in moving the business forward.
