Smart technology is increasingly being implemented throughout all aspects of supply chain operations, streamlining processes to provide greater operational efficiency, safety and quality.

Hörmann UK’s new SmartControl system is one of the latest technologies available to the industry, supporting warehouse managers and operators by making the servicing process easier and quicker.

For many warehouses, regular servicing and maintenance of machinery can initially appear a time-consuming process that minimises operations and restricts productivity. However, irregular or insufficient servicing can cause serious safety issues, breaches of relevant regulations and eventually cause extended periods of downtime through significant faults or accidents due to poor maintenance. In response to this, and as part of its dedication to providing logistics businesses with the highest quality products supported by first class aftersales, Hörmann UK has launched its new SmartControl technology. Compatible with all Hörmann UK high-speed doors manufactured since 2015, the system is revolutionising the expectations of servicing within the industry by minimising downtime and increasing productivity.

Providing technical door analysis at all times, the SmartControl system is an online portal that operators and managers can remotely access to view important door information, such as error messages, updates on door cycles or in-depth overviews of the product’s overall performance.

The programme has also been designed to provide cost-savings by aiding a reduction in the frequency and duration of service and maintenance visits through the creation of a platform that allows for proactive and proficient service planning. This also reduces associated costs as service engineers do not need to physically visit the site as frequently, as all information can be viewed via the portal. The easy-to-use software also enables parts to be ordered and replaced before a breakdown occurs, significantly minimising any potential downtime that may occur due to faults as the part is already on site, ready for the engineer to replace in the shortest lead times possible.

Faster troubleshooting can also be achieved due to online access of the door’s control, streamlining the servicing process for professionals as no software installation is required.

Phil Clark, Industrial Service Manager for Hörmann UK, said: “Continuous development of high quality, innovative products and services is a central focus for the business. We are committed to providing the most innovative solutions available to the European market and our latest high speed door and servicing offering further enhances this for both existing and potential customers.

“We pride ourselves in taking the time to gain feedback from our clients on how their operations can be improved, which is what our new SmartControl technology is designed to do. We are looking forward to seeing the system rolled out across the UK this year and working with clients to further streamline their operations.”

As part of its commitment to servicing, Hörmann UK has recently doubled its team of service engineers, providing both clients and non-clients across the nation with a network of highly trained professionals who can be on site in the shortest lead times available.

From 2020, the SmartControl system will also be compatible with all Hörmann UK sectional non-protruding up-and-over sliding doors with control 560. For further information call 01530 516850 or visit: www.hormann.co.uk/industrycommerce- and-publicauthorities/ service.
