Alwayse Engineering Limited, located in Birmingham, England, have been manufacturing material handling solutions for over 70 years.
Established in 1939 Alwayse are recognized as the World’s largest manufacturer of Ball Transfer Units which have become an integral part of the material handling industry, from the multi-directional nature of the Ball Transfer Unit – they move in all directions enabling the easy transfer of light and heavy loads, and the direction of motion to change instantly.
Special units have also been developed for various industries including white goods, air cargo, glass handling, machine tools, and many other industries. Over the last 18 years more than 800 special units have been designed and developed for special applications.
Alwayse also manufacture and supply specialized Glass Handling Castors which can also be used for moving any delicate or fragile flat items. More recently the company commenced the production of Gravity Conveyor Rollers up to 3.½” diameter and Conveyor Systems incorporating Ball Tables which they manufacture in their fabrication section. These are bespoke tables of any size and load capacities of up to 10 tonne. Over 250 such tables are produced each year.
These tables can be fitted with any of the wide range of ball units from 5kgs up to 4,000kg load capacities. All are produced in their new 35,000 sq.ft. factory in Aston, Birmingham, where they have a press shop with power presses up to 250 ton supported by a fully equipped toolroom for the manufacture and repair of press tools. The company also have an extensive CNC lathe section equipped with the latest Mori-Seiki machines for production of their flagship series, Hevi-load units and other Heavy Duty ball units. In total the company have invested over £500,000.
To support this production Alwayse have also invested in Mitutoyo measurement equipment in order to measure and control all aspects of production.
The company employs 57 people including 3 apprentices. They export 70% of their production to over 60 countries worldwide, and have received The Queen’s Award for Export Achievement on 2 occasions in 1997 and 2008.
