Wessex Packaging is now bringing the Karocycler system to businesses across the UK as its official distribution partner.

Wessex is expanding access to a packaging solution that allows companies to turn their own waste cardboard and paper into protective void fill cushioning – produced directly on site.
Developed and engineered in Germany, the Karocycler transforms used cardboard, paper and other waste into paper-based cushioning through a fully integrated process. The system shreds waste material, fills and seals it into flexible paper pillows, and delivers ready-to-use packaging that can be used to protect products in transit.
This approach allows businesses to produce packaging material independently, while reducing reliance on externally sourced void fill and minimising disposal and transport requirements.
A Partnership Built Around Practical, On-Site Production
Through this partnership, Wessex Packaging will provide full support to UK customers of the Karocycler machine – from specification and installation to training and ongoing technical support.
Working with Wessex enables companies to install the Karocycler directly within their own operations, creating a decentralised production model.
This allows packaging materials to be produced on demand from existing waste streams, improving efficiency and reducing unnecessary transport.
Wessex Packaging’s experienced team, led by Robert McEwan (Wessex Packaging Manchester) will work closely with customers to assess requirements, configure systems, and ensure smooth integration into existing packing processes, with ongoing expert support after installation.
Supporting a More Resource-Efficient Supply Chain
The Karocycler system is designed to address two common operational challenges: managing cardboard waste and sourcing protective packaging materials.
By converting one into the other, it enables a practical, circular approach within the warehouse or fulfilment environment.
The machine produces robust paper cushions/pillows, made from a Kraft paper outer layer filled with shredded cardboard or paper.
These cushions can be used as an alternative to plastic-based void fill solutions such as foam or bubble wrap.
For businesses generating significant volumes of waste paper and cardboard, the system offers the flexibility to produce packaging material in line with demand, while reducing handling, disposal, and inbound supply requirements.
Mark Barter, Managing Director of Wessex Packaging, commented: “This partnership gives UK businesses a very practical way to make better use of materials they already have on site. The Karocycler fits perfectly with how we work at Wessex – looking at the whole operation and helping customers pack more efficiently, reduce waste handling, and take greater control of their packaging processes.
“What stands out is the simplicity of the idea. You’re taking something that’s already there, your cardboard waste, and turning it into something you need every day. That’s a compelling proposition for manufacturers, fulfilment centres, and logistics operations across the UK.”
Volker Kreiter, CEO of Karopack, added: “With Wessex Packaging as our official partner, we are bringing the Karocycler directly to the UK market and supporting companies with a local, efficient solution for their packaging needs.
“Our approach is to enable decentralised production—helping businesses produce their own packaging materials on site using existing resources. This reduces transport distances, conserves materials, and gives companies greater independence in their packaging processes.”
Karocycler Interest Grows at Interpack
During Interpack in Düsseldorf, Karopack Managing Director Benedikt Bußman and Wessex Packaging Managing Director Mark Barter met to engage with UK customers and introduce Karocycler to visitors attending the exhibition.
The event provided an important platform to present the Karocycler system to a wider audience, generating strong interest from UK businesses seeking practical, scalable packaging and recycling solutions.
The level of engagement at the show highlights the growing demand for innovative approaches that support the evolving needs of modern logistics and manufacturing environments.
Wessex Packaging is also the Official GB ErgoPack Strapping Machine Distributor, and also an EcoVadis Silver Award holder and ISO9001 and ISO14001 certified company.
