Materials handling pioneer Jungheinrich has announced the launch of its completely redesigned EFG 2/2i & 3/3i series of electric counterbalance trucks. The trucks are designed for users who want to see high productivity, safety and future-proofing in a compact vehicle.

The new trucks are the result of listening to the feedback from customers of the 170,000 vehicles already sold. The EFG 2/2i series is a particularly manoeuvrable three-wheel forklift with load capacities from 1.4 to 2.0 tonnes, while the EFG 3/3i series offers 1.6 to 2.0 tonne capacity in a four-wheel forklift.
“With the new series, we have developed vehicles that are consistently geared towards the real requirements of the warehouse – from compactness and ergonomics to performance,” says Marek Scheithauer, Global Portfolio Lead for Counterbalance Light Trucks at Jungheinrich.
Best-in-class compactness offers new efficiencies for warehouses
In every warehouse, the more compact the handling equipment, the lower the space costs and the greater the efficiency customers can get from their existing storage space.
Thanks to its integrated lithium-ion battery, optimised steering axle geometry and consistently compact design, the new EFG 2/3i trucks achieve up to 15 per cent better space efficiency.
With turning circles reduced by up to 300 millimetres (model dependent) on the previous series, the new trucks enable safe and efficient working in narrow aisles, on truck loading areas or in confined production areas.
Three performance variants and a modular energy concept
Three configurations, each with a range of power options, ensure every warehouse can benefit from the new trucks.
•efficiencyPLUS is designed for moderate handling capacities.
•drive&liftPLUS is a deftly balanced all-round variant and the most powerful configuration for maximum productivity.
•performancePLUS is designed for the most demanding applications and fast goods handling, with permanent magnet synchronous motors and optimised hydraulics with improved energy efficiency that ensure significantly higher handling performance.
The EFG 2/2i & 3/3i series are based on a modular energy concept, enabling customers to tailor their truck, pairing vehicle with preferred energy source. Integrated lithium-ion batteries are available in various capacities (346, 460 and 690 Ah), while lead acid and fuel cell operation are also available.
Ergonomics and acoustics for fatigue-free working
Jungheinrich placed drivers at the heart of the new trucks’ design. An enlarged footwell offers around 100 millimetres of additional legroom, a lower entry height and an ergonomically optimised steering column designed to reduce physical strain.
Drivers were also the chief consideration in comprehensively revising acoustic and vibration levels. A vibration-decoupled cab ensures a noise level of just 63 dB(A). The new HMI, with a 4.3-inch touch display and revised controls, supports intuitive, logical operation and helps operators to deliver precise, fatigue-free working.
Greater safety through better visibility
Statistics show that the majority of accidents involving industrial trucks occur when reversing. To combat this, Jungheinrich’s newly designed, slanted B-pillar reduces the blind spot when reversing by up to 65 per cent, a decisive safety gain.
A low instrument panel and the optional panoramic roof further improve visibility of forks, load and rack levels, especially when working at greater lift heights. In addition, a wide range of configurable assistance systems include camera solutions such as the AI-supported addedVIEW person detection system and the zone-based collision protection system zoneCONTROL.
The optionally available SmartStripe LED light strip increases visibility of the vehicle with clear brake, direction and warning signals, and also displays the current battery charge status from a distance. To identify problems early and avoid unplanned downtime, the electric forklifts are networked as standard and provide valuable operating data in real time. Thanks to digital service, predictive maintenance and remote diagnostics, fleets remain in operation longer – with shorter repair times and lower costs.
“The new EFG 2/2i and 3/3i series combine measurable productivity advantages with high investment and future security. In this way, we are supporting our customers in making their internal processes efficient today while also being prepared for the requirements of tomorrow,” says Marek Scheithauer.
drive&liftPLUS will be available early Q3/2026. efficiencyPLUS and performancePLUS will follow in 2027.
