On Thursday 5th March, the Exporta Global team took to the oche to complete the marathon game of darts in support of MacMillan Cancer Support. The challenge was simple, to play darts continuously for 12 hours, or to reach a total of 100,000 points, whichever came first.
The team split into pairs and worked in shifts throughout the day (with some starting at 6am) to complete the challenge with some fantastic scoring on show. There were 14 individual throws over 120 points and one of the team even managed to throw a maximum 180! 18 team members took part throughout the day, demonstrating the feeling and support to the cause from the Exporta staff.
The team managed to complete the 100,000 target after just 7 hours and 40 minutes, but in the spirit of the challenge, and because they were thoroughly enjoying themselves, they decided to keep going for the full 12 hours, finishing with an impressive total points tally of 138,276.
Having set a donation target of £1,000, the Exporta team was delighted to see the final sum raised smash the initial goal, ending up at £1,184.09.
Everyone at some point in their life has been affected by Cancer. Family, friends, colleagues and more. Exporta have taken part in many of Macmillan’s charitable activities including the world’s biggest coffee morning, and one of the team even completed the mighty hike last year. The charity is so important as they provide physical, financial, and emotional support to people living with cancer.
Managing Director, Dale Paterson, was delighted with how the team pulled together to support such a worthwhile cause.
‘It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves throughout the day. There were some great scores, and the final total was really impressive. One of Exporta’s key values is to support charitable organisations and this event demonstrated that. We even managed to keep every order going out on time throughout the day!’
