Loading bays are an essential part of any warehouse operation, playing a key role in improving both supply chain efficiency and operational safety.

Well-designed loading bays streamline the movement of goods, reducing downtime and minimising risks to staff and equipment.
A recent project by BID Group Ltd for a leading UK supermarket, showcased the Industrial Door specialists expertise in loading bay pod conversions.
The retailers aim for converting internal scissor lifts to external pods, was to allow the use of double deck trailer deliveries to their large distribution facilities.
The project involved removing the original scissor lifts from within the distribution centre’s loading bay, and then filling the empty floor pits with a robust, anti-slip coated steel table which enhanced both safety and operational efficiency.
To finish, a new load house with a 7-cage scissor lift was installed under the external canopy.
Double deck trailers carry more goods per trip, which means fewer journeys on the road. This cuts carbon emissions and brings down operating costs for retailers.
Loading bays are typically composed of essential elements like dock levellers, dock shelters, bumpers, and wheel guides, all of which contribute to the ease and safety of operations and are available from BID Group’s Loading Bay Division.
