As the festive season reinforces the value and enjoyment of connecting with people in person, Logistics UK is delighted to celebrate the second anniversary of its Executive Membership programme – the networking group that was established to bring the industry’s most senior leaders together all year round – with news that more than 120 people from over 75 organisations are now engaged with the programme.

Established in December 2023, Logistics UK’s Executive Membership brings together some of the most influential individuals in the logistics industry, with leaders from companies including Tesco, DHL, XPO, Heathrow and many more among its number.

Logistics UK President Phil Roe said, “At this time of year, when reconnecting with people is top of mind, this is a reminder of how powerful shared conversations can be – and precisely the reason we established our Executive Membership programme two years ago.

“With now more than 120 members engaged, we are bringing senior leaders together in a way that is purposeful, energising and genuinely collaborative. Together, members are able to debate the key issues affecting the sector and create real solutions to real problems being experienced by the industry – it has been valuable for everyone and is something that has been missing from the industry for some time.”

In a recent CBI report, almost 80% of business leaders say they prefer face-to-face meetings with clients or stakeholders1 and agreed that in-person meetings build stronger bonds with stakeholders, and clients more quickly. Logistics UK’s Executive Membership provides multiple opportunities for senior leaders to meet in person, including working breakfasts, networking dinners and conferences on the most pressing issues such as decarbonisation as well as regular more informal social gatherings.

Face-to-face meetings are also thought to be good for the balance sheet, with research showing business professionals believe their ability to generate revenue could increase by 36% if all important meetings were conducted in person2.

Logistics UK’s Executive Membership programme provides a comprehensive suite of services for busy professionals, including regular networking dinners, access to policy reports, exclusive industry insight reports, podcasts and news digests to provide a unique perspective on issues facing the industry and help businesses plan their long-term strategy.

Executive member, and Chief Executive Officer of Howard Tenens, Jamie Hartles said, “Nowhere else have I found such open, high-level exchange with peers facing the same pressures – it’s genuinely unparalleled.”

Roe concluded, “The success of our Executive Membership programme is testament to the value that senior leaders in the logistics sector place on real-world connections, shared insight and collective strength. We are looking forward to building on the momentum the initiative is generating: supporting our members with even more opportunities to meet, learn and shape the future of logistics together.”

Logistics UK is one of the UK’s biggest business groups, representing logistics businesses which are vital to keeping the UK trading, and more than seven million people directly employed in the making, selling and moving of goods. With a history stretching back more than 130 years, and unrivalled understanding of the pressures and strategic challenges faced by the industry, Logistics UK established the Executive Membership for the leaders of this vital business sector to keep abreast of strategic issues and network with their industry peers.
