Rob Fisher, Chief Executive at UKMHA

With more than 10,000 attendees expected and thousands of innovative solutions accessible for all, the 2025 show is set to be a vibrant occasion. There is much to look forward to this year, including the forward-looking Future Zone, the insightful IMHX Conference, and of course, the exciting hustle and bustle of the exhibition floor.

Those who want to find out more about UKMHA and what we do please visit us at stand C20. The UKMHA team and I will be located there throughout the event, ready to offer information about our upcoming initiatives, guidance on the latest forklift safety best practices and the benefits of membership.

The centrepiece of our appearance will be our Safety Morning on Wednesday 10 September, which takes place in the conference area on the show floor. Revisiting the themes of National Forklift Safety Day, our flagship safety campaign designed to raise MHE safety standards, this event will equip attendees with the knowledge they need to create safer workplaces.

The first portion of the Safety Morning will feature a series of expert-led presentations, each providing insights into key safety topics.

The presentation line-up includes:

• UK Industrial Truck Demand in an Uncertain Economic Environment. Jeremy Leonard, Managing Director, Global Industry Services.

• Shaping a Safety-Driven Workforce. Laura Nelson, CEO, RTITB.

• The Hidden Warehouse Risk That Will Cost You Your Job. Ingmar Schoemacher, Director of Enterprise Sales (Europe), Powerfleet.

Martijn Graat, Podcaster and Founder, LogisticsMatter.

Another key aspect of the Safety Morning is a ‘mock trial’. This live enactment of a fictional courtroom case involving a serious forklift incident will shine a light onto the legal consequences that companies could face if they fail to implement adequate safety measures and protocols.

The scenario involves a warehouse operative who suffers life-changing injuries after being hit by a forklift truck while taking a shortcut. Despite the employer’s exemplary safety record, the incident results in legal proceedings for failing to ensure safe working practices.

The trial will feature a cross-examination of the warehouse manager by the Council for the Prosecution – a gripping dramatisation that will serve as a cautionary tale for the audience.

I’d like to extend a special thank you to Marta Tomlinson from Kennedys, Clare Bottle from UKWA and Stuart Taylor from Mentor for helping us to bring the UKMHA’s mock trial to fruition.

We’ll also be hosting The Archies Awards 2025 on the evening of Wednesday 10 September at the Vox Conference Centre – a venue within the NEC campus. This prestigious awards ceremony celebrates the material handling industry’s most outstanding people, products and projects – an ideal way to round off the second day of the show.

I trust that you will all have a valuable experience at IMHX 2025, and I look forward to seeing many of you there!
