Can you give us a brief overview of the products and services your company provides?
We are renowned for our automated picking solutions for fresh food – including fruit & vegetables, dairy goods and bakery products – but our solutions are also used in the beverage, e-commerce and FMCG sectors, as well as being integrated in numerous tyre-manufacturing facilities worldwide. Built on our proven gantry robot technology, our scalable and reliable systems are designed to optimise material flows, maximise efficiency and increase profitability. We support our solutions with our Success Services, a suite of lifecycle support options including after-sales service, system upgrades and expert training.
What are you looking to achieve at IMHX this year?
Cimcorp has become a successful and well-known system integrator in Europe. Last year, we expanded our footprint in the UK market and we want to enhance our profile in the British market further at IMHX, where we can showcase our full automation portfolio. Our UK personnel are working hard to ensure the success of the projects we are currently implementing here. Our team on stand UK3 (adjacent to the UKWA café) at IMHX will explain how our automation technology can streamline operations and drive efficiency in projects of any size.
What sets your company apart as a supplier in your sector?
What sets us apart is our unique blend of innovative technology, industry know-how and unwavering commitment to our customers’ success. Our focus on modularity and standardisation means our solutions are always flexible and scalable.
What business sectors are your customers in?
We primarily serve the grocery retail and tyre manufacturing sectors. Last year we focussed the experience we’ve gained over many years in the food industry into the launch of Dreamfield, our modular, end-to-end solution for the automation of grocery, dairy and bakery distribution centres. Dreamfield integrates robotics, automated guided vehicles and advanced software to enable fresh food customers to reduce the time taken to get perishable products from the field or factory to the retail shelf. In the tyre-manufacturing industry, our end-to-end automation solution is called Dream Factory. Since its launch 15 years ago, Dream Factory has helped tyre producers worldwide to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce waste and future-proof their operations.
Which industry sectors are growing the quickest for your business?
Demand for retail automation – particularly in the food sector – remains strong, despite the current geopolitical instability and macroeconomic pressures. Our automation is driving efficiency for many leading brands including Edeka, Kroger, L’Oréal, Mercadona, Netto, Rewe and Alimerka.
What innovative changes or strategies has your business adopted since the last IMHX in 2022?
In addition to launching our Dreamfield solution for food distribution centres last year, earlier this year we entered the electric vehicle battery-manufacturing sector, offering end-to-end material handling automation for gigafactories. One thing that hasn’t changed is our partnership with many leading tyre companies; over the years, we have completed projects for all of the world’s top ten tyre manufacturers. A recent innovation that we use in our Success Services is our CVision AR-Glasses, which provide augmented reality support for real-time remote assistance and maintenance.
What major customer contract wins have you made recently?
We are currently delivering a major automation project for one of the UK’s top 10 grocery retailers. We are also implementing a major project for the Spanish grocery retailer, Grupo MAS, to automate its fresh produce distribution – you can read more about this system on the following page. We recently delivered a new automated, high-bay warehouse for the Finnish beverage producer, Olvi, which has been a Cimcorp customer for more than a decade. Other projects in recent years include a fully automated order-picking system for Mercadona in Spain, which has halved delivery times for fresh produce and ensured optimum freshness. For Edeka in Germany, our automation has reduced order-to-shelf time to 4-5 hours, improving both product quality and employee safety. Our solution for Spanish supermarket chain, Alimerka boosted productivity, safety and sustainability. The German grocery retailer, Rewe successfully used our automation to address labour shortages and improve delivery accuracy.
In which overseas markets are you seeing the strongest growth and value creation at this time?
In addition to the headquarters in Ulvila, Finland, Cimcorp Group has locations in Australia, Canada, Germany, India, Spain, UK and USA – as well as representatives around the globe. Currently, North America is our fastest-growing market, and we are also seeing significant demand in Australia.
What is your vision for the company over the next few years?
To ensure that our trajectory of sustainable growth continues. This will be the result of continued investment in innovation and commitment to our customers’ success. Our strategy involves developing our core technologies in our focus markets to deliver highly efficient automation solutions and software, particularly in regions with high labour costs.
What is your company doing to actively work towards a more sustainable business model?
We are committed to reducing environmental impact, waste and energy use. Last year, Cimcorp was awarded a Silver medal by EcoVadis, the globally trusted business sustainability ratings platform. Of course, our systems themselves promote sustainability by streamlining supply chains to reduce carbon footprint and – in grocery retail – minimise fresh-produce wastage.
How is your company making the workplace a safer environment for your employees?
We have achieved the highest occupational safety classification in Finland – the Vision Zero Forum Award – for our proactive risk management.
What strategy should the warehouse and logistics sectors take to drive and optimise efficiencies?
Faced with labour shortages and consumer expectations for rapid and accurate deliveries, companies should automate their distribution networks to ensure efficiency, transparency and resilience. Combined with artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics, automation has the power to transform companies’ intralogistics and future-proof their operations. Cimcorp’s modular systems can be implemented in phases, if required, and are suitable for both greenfield and brownfield projects.
And finally, what key message are you hoping to share with attendees who visit your stand?
That Cimcorp is a major player in intralogistics system integration and now we’re investing in the UK market to establish a strong local presence to support our growth here. With 50 years of experience and deep industry expertise, we’re ready to help grocery retailers, beverage distributors, tyre manufacturers and others to gain competitive advantage and secure their long-term success.
