The Whittan Group, the largest UK provider of storage solutions, has been on a journey of transformation over the past 18 months, and they’re not finished yet. Since taking over as CEO back in May 2023, Richard Moss and his team have been developing the company strategies to propel the leading storage manufacturer to new heights.
“We’ve been working hard to establish a clear strategic plan for our development which sets out the building blocks for the profitable growth of The Whittan Group,” Richard tells us.
“However, we can’t ignore how far we’ve come. We’ve seen growth in Europe with a specific focus on automation in warehousing, we’ve made major investments in our Milton Keynes factory, we’ve integrated our Locker manufacturing operations, and we’ve delivered on some of our ESG targets including being awarded EcoVadis Gold for the second year running.”
A major step for British pallet racking manufacturing
In the coming months, they are launching the most exciting change to their pallet racking products in over 40 years. With the upgrades they’ve made to their Milton Keynes factory, they are now ready to start the evolution of the Link51 Products and Services. The introduction of the new range of solutions comes from customers’ needs to go higher and heavier with their warehouse storage, and the Group have been developing their range to allow for this necessity.
“This launch brings innovation to our range and gives our customers more flexibility and choice when we work with them to develop designs that are tailored to their specific requirements,” Richard said. The new addition to the Link51 pallet racking range is the result of continuous progression and development of their tried and tested products. The launch of their expanded, UK manufactured pallet racking range will widen their offering to their customers, shorten lead times, reduce risk in the supply chain and lower carbon footprint, all while adapting to the ever-changing warehousing market.
What about the why?
Every company needs to provide their customers with the best products and solutions, but it’s what is at the heart of The Whittan Group that makes them stand above their competitors – and that’s the people. As the largest UK manufacturer of storage solutions with over 70 years of experience, the Group has seen change after change, which means that their teams have become some of the most knowledgeable and highly trained in the industry.
Richard commented, “The products and solutions we offer are the most cost-effective in the UK market. But those solutions are not just down to the product we sell, it’s the people who can make those solutions happen, and that’s why this is so important to us.
“Our sales teams, designers and structural engineers have a wealth of experience that is available locally, and that’s what I feel makes the biggest difference. We’re very lucky that our people have always been devoted to our customers and will choose to go the extra mile because they care about what they do and how they do it.
“Ultimately, our products are what our customers can use, but it’s really our people who can utilise the tools and ensure the products are used in the best way. The knowledge our experts have means they can optimise any solution on a case-by-case basis, and that’s what we’re truly about. Without our people, we lose our ability to ensure our solutions are tailored and unique to each customer, so I’m very proud of them and how far we’ve come.”
