The Association of Loading and Elevating Equipment (ALEM) continues to play a key role in representing its members during the ongoing revision of the EN 1398 standard for dock levellers. Phil James, ALEM President, is an active member of CEN TC98/WG5, the group responsible for updating the standard. He attended the most recent meeting in Stockholm, where detailed discussions took place on the proposed revisions. The working group continues to make steady progress as it reviews and refines updates to ensure the standard reflects current industry requirements and safety expectations.

Doncaster-based Hörmann Transdek has successfully supplied and installed a Vehicle-to-Ground (V2G) lift at Next’s South Elmsall distribution centre, near Wakefield. The lift supports a newly built warehouse extension designed to meet the retailer’s growing demand for online fulfilment. Designed for modern, agile logistics, the V2G lift provides level-access loading and unloading for a full range of vehicles, from small vans to single and double-deck trailers.
Stertil has completed the installation of a new FlexiEdge M2 All Weather high-speed door at Heathrow Airport, supporting operations for DHL Aviation. The project involved the replacement of a previous Stertil-supplied high-speed door originally installed in 2015. Due to the high-traffic nature of the site, the door is subject to frequent daily use, making reliability and performance essential.
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems has launched the new ASSA ABLOY RT1000, a high-performance external spiral door designed to deliver outstanding operational efficiency, thermal performance and long-term reliability in fast-moving industrial settings. Purpose-built for facilities where speed and uptime are critical, the RT1000 achieves opening speeds of up to 1.75 m/s and controlled closing speeds of up to 0.6 m/s. At its core is RapidTech1000, an advanced operating system featuring a single-track spiral with high-velocity gliders.
At LogiMAT 2026, STILL presented a true milestone in intralogistics: the first market-ready, series-produced solution for the autonomous loading and unloading of lorries – without the need for any stationary safety technology at the dock. With the AXL 15 iGo low lift pallet truck, the Hamburg-based intralogistics specialist is closing one of the last major gaps in warehouse automation: the handling of incoming and outgoing goods at the truck loading ramp. With the autonomous AXL 15 iGo low lift pallet truck which has been specially developed for loading and unloading lorries, two vehicles working together can autonomously load up to 30 EPAL pallets into a trailer in around 35 minutes.
As warehouses become ever busier and loading bays are in constant use, it is essential that the highest safety standards are maintained to protect workers and goods.
