Hörmann UK has expanded its Construction Project range with the addition of insulated hinged and sliding doors designed specifically for cold rooms and freezer applications.

Engineered for temperature-controlled environments, the doors are suitable for cold rooms operating at temperatures down to 0°C and freezers reaching –28°C. They are ideally suited to cold storage facilities, distribution hubs, supermarkets and food processing operations where thermal performance and reliability are critical.
The cold storage range comprises the HID-80 hinged door and HIS-80 sliding door, both constructed with an 80mm-thick polyurethane (PU) foamed door leaf. Bespoke sealing technology minimises energy loss, helping operators maintain consistent internal temperatures while controlling energy costs.
For freezer environments, Hörmann has introduced the HID-120 hinged door and HIS-120 sliding door, featuring a 120mm PU foamed door leaf for enhanced insulation performance. Both freezer variants are equipped with an integrated, self-regulating frame heating system that prevents seals from freezing while optimising energy consumption. This not only ensures reliable operation and ease of opening at all times but also extends seal life. All seals are designed for straightforward removal and replacement to simplify maintenance.
Both the cold storage doors and sliding freezer doors are manually operated and fitted with extra-large rollers for smooth, easy handling with little force required – an important consideration in high-traffic logistics environments. Sliding doors are available with either wall or bottom guides, offering flexibility for different building configurations.
To further improve thermal efficiency during goods movement, the sliding doors can be paired with Hörmann double-action doors. This arrangement enables the sliding door to remain open while goods are transferred, with the double-action door acting as a thermal barrier to retain cold air within the storage area, minimising temperature fluctuations and reducing energy consumption.
All doors are delivered with a high level of pre-fabrication, enabling rapid installation in front of the wall opening within a thermo-block frame – minimising fitting time on site. Hinged doors are available up to a maximum size of 1100mm x 2300mm, while sliding doors can be specified up to 4000mm x 2800mm, accommodating larger access requirements typical in warehouse and logistics facilities.
In terms of finish, doors are available in stainless steel with either a polished or matt circular textured surface, or in galvanised steel finished in Grey white (RAL 9002). Additional RAL colours are available on request, enabling alignment with corporate or site-specific specifications.
